Wannes Gubbels (vocals/bass) of PENTACLE has released this statement about the band's upcoming release on Ibex Moon Records:

"As was the case with its predecessor “Ancient Death”, our new album “Under the Black Cross” is again a very honest and raw sounding Death Metal offering. Don’t expect something fancy. Being inspired by classic acts as Venom, Celtic Frost, Possessed, Mantas/Death and Pentagram (Chile), this is pure obscure extreme underground Metal the Pentacle style. Recorded in the studio where we laid all our other previous albums on tape (Harrow Productions), “Under the Black Cross” features a heavy production with its raw edges, as it is meant to be.

The US-version of “Under the Black Cross” contains some extras the Euro-release didn’t feature. For the first time on CD, one will be able to read the whole lyrical output dealing with the concept of “Under the Black Cross”, being Operation Chariot. This was a daring British Commando Raid that took place at Saint Nazaire, France, 1942. Now you can experience all the facts about wartime horror, honour, glory and most of all…death.

Except for our eight original compositions, we’ve included our personal interpretation of Necrovore’s “Divus de Mortuus”. Being a major influence for Pentacle we are truly honoured to present you this track. Mind you, you can never replace the original, but we’re damn proud of our own version!

Being around in this scene with Pentacle for almost 18 years now, we can say we’ve achieved another personal high-light. It literally took blood, sweat and tears to get this record done, but we made it happen. We hope all you Death Metal heads will share our feelings about this album and that you’ll enjoy it as much as we do. Remember…Death Metal came with the Wind.

Denial Fiend

Reactivated death metal band MASSACRE — consisting of DENIAL FIEND members Sam Williams (guitar), Curt Beeson (drums; NASTY SAVAGE), along with ex-MASSACRE/current DENIAL FIEND members Terry Butler (bass), Steve Swanson (guitars) and Kam Lee (vocals) — will make its only U.S. appearance on October 6 at The Crowbar in Ybor City/Tampa, Florida.

This show is DENIAL FIEND's CD-release party and will see DENIAL FIEND closing the night with a one-time-only MASSACRE pre-tour set. (Both MASSACRE and DENIAL FIEND will be touring Europe between late October and middle of November as part of the "Massacre Re-Animated Tour".)

Former MASSACRE/DEATH frontman Kam Lee recently issued the following statement in response to requests from fans for MASSACRE to do some U.S. dates:

"MASSACRE will NOT be touring the U.S. and that is FINAL!
"This has nothing to do against our U.S. fans, as we do appreciate all the fans (what very few we have) here in the U.S., but you have to understand from a business stand point this is not even possible. MASSACRE can not get the correct kind of SUPPORT in the U.S. to even attempt a tour with out taking substantial financial losses. NO PROMOTER in the U.S. will even look at us at this moment. Shit, as a matter of fact — no promoters in the U.S. ever gave a fuck about MASSACRE in the past... and the only reason they would even look at us now would be to EXPLOIT us in an opportunisic way.

"MASSACRE is NOT back together as a working band, but only agreed to tour Europe in order to push DENIAL FIEND!!"

MASSACRE's lineup for the upcoming "Re-Animated" European tour — which is scheduled to kick off October 26 and last through November 18 — will consist of DENIAL FIEND members Sam Williams (guitar), Curt Beeson (drums; NASTY SAVAGE), along with ex-MASSACRE members Terry Butler (bass), Steve Swanson (guitars) and Kam Lee (vocals). The material covered on the tour will consist only of songs from 1991's "From Beyond" and "Inhuman Condition" EP.

In addition to MASSACRE, the "Re-Animated" tour will feature appearances by DENIAL FIEND, JUNGLE ROT, ASHURA (France), EXTERMINATOR (Belgium), SUICIDAL ANGELS (Greece) and EXTREME NOISE TERROR (U.K.; last three shows only).
Kam Lee previously stated about the upcoming tour: "This will be a joint tour with DENIAL FIEND and should not be considered a 'reunion' tour but rather an extension of what 'true' MASSACRE is, and should be considered a 'fan appreciation' tour! It's my way of saying thanks to all the MASSACRE fans for the support all these years... for keeping the 'Ancient Cult Death' sound and style alive all this time!"

Balkans Assassination Tour 2007: Important update and check in with band

Well the first leg of our 2 month European has come to a end. For sure The Northern Assassin Tour was a great success! I was told before we left that the Scandinavian scene wasn't too strong. Well, i can't speak for other tours, but for us it was great. We had a excellent turn out every night. There were a lot of cool, old school death metal fans at all the gigs. We also got to hang out with some friends from Grave, Nominon, Immersed In Blood, Rotten Sound, Beherit, Demigod, Demilich and many more. It was a honor to be apart of such a kick ass tour, everyone has been great the bands, crew, clubs employees and all the die hard death metal supports!
My new Mockingbird Special X has sounding great every night, it stays in tune great even with my low c tuning. What is also killer is that even as hard as I am on the guitar i haven't broke any strings yet.
We are now getting ready to conquer Russia on the flaming arts festivals. I'm sure it will be a great experience. I want to thank Massive Music for this great opportunity. I also want to thank Craig and Reyash for doing such a great job every night, it's a honor to perform with such great guys and amazing musicians."

"The first leg of the tour has been a huge success. everyone is very cool and all the bands are very talented and give 100% every night. On the equipment side of things let's just say that Zildjian was more than happy to help me out with the cymbals I needed for the tour. Thank you James McGathey for your prompt actions. The cymbals sound great! To all at Vic Firth, the sticks ordered for the tour are of excellent craftsmanship as always. The other bands have taken interest in them. By the way SONOR is king, I miss my drums immensely."

Urgent update:

INCANTATION & FUNERUS ARE NOT playing The Cenexpo Festival of Armenia

Due to a lack of professionalism by the promoter involved with the production of the Armenia festival INCANTATION and FUNERUS will NOT be preforming on Saturday August 25.

John McEntee explains, "The bottom line is the promoter never paid for our airfare for the show. We tried everything we cold but we had no choice but to cancel. We are really pissed that the promoter has used our name to promote the show then not do what was needed to get us over there to actually play."

Nelson Syphorium Records, who booked INCANTATION on the festival, reply, " We regret this unpleasant news for all the fans of INCANTATION and FUNERUS. We expect some day to be able to have them return to our country,with the best treatment like the they deserve."

The monster is coming back to the US for a crushing tour with JOB FOR A COWBOY, BEHEMOTH and BENEATH THE MASSACRE

Hurley and Converse unite to present the 2007 "Radio Rebellion" Tour, a massive, twenty eight city North American trek that will showcase the cream of the crop of heavy music's rising stars from points across the globe.

The highly-anticipated follow up to 2006's successful package tour of the same name, this year's planned jaunt sees the "Radio Rebellion" Tour upping the ante, especially in regards to the 'heaviness factor', as the tour will grandstand two of underground metal's most talked about rising artists in BEHEMOTH and JOB FOR A COWBOY. Support on the extreme expedition will be provided by highly regarded French band GOJIRA and Canadian technical death metal quartet BENEATH THE MASSACRE.

GOJIRA frontman Joe Duplantier will also join the Cavalera brothers on stage on the 31st of August for the debut show of INFLIKTED at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona.

He will play the bass on the entire set.

Denial Fiend

DENIAL FIEND, the new project that unites vocalist Kam Lee (Masscare, Death) with bassist Terry Butler (Massacre, Death, Six Feet Under), drummer Curtis Beeson (Nasty Savage), and Sam Williams (Down By Law, Pseudo Heroes) expressed their excitement for the current recording including Mike Browning's (Morbid Angel, Nocternus, After Death) guest vocal spot on the track "Return To The Tombs Of The Cursed Blind Dead" for their latest release "They Rise".

"Mike did a fucking great job, and his signature evil demonic voice just makes the song that much more dark and sinister!" A huge macabre thanks to Mike for his contribution to the album!
DENIAL FIEND have been at MANA studios mixing the new album and everything is going mayhem! Brian Elliot is a fucking evil genius behind the board, and is really making our sound complete! Drums are mixed as well as Bass tracks, and we'll be starting with guitars next... then onto the vocals. Everything is fucking blazing and solid and truely captures that raw feel and style that is DENIAL FIEND!"

Additionally DENIAL FIEND are excited to finally get on the road.

Recently Kam Lee had some passport problems which hindered their traveling, but now everything has been cleared up and DENIAL FIEND are 100% doing an upcoming tour.

This exceptionally rare, "Massacre Re-animated Tour", will re-unite MASSACRE and lay ground for DENIAL FIENDS's first tour ever.
The proposed dates will be from Oct. 25th - Nov.19th of this year through Europe.

Guitarist, Jack Owen (Deicide, Ex-Cannibal Corpse) will be joining forces with Ohio Death Thrashers ESTUARY for the upcoming “Balkans Assassination Tour” taking place this October alongside Krisiun, INCANTATION and Inactive Messiah.

Sweden's TYRANT reclaim the flame with Listenable

According a statement from the debut black metal band you must hear:

On the edge of the precipice, there is only one way back, and that is by taking a step forward.

The band that was to become TYRANT was something we had been wanting to create for a long time. But it was nothing we planned, it just happened. But now afterwards we realize that it was inevitable. And when something comes naturally, it's a result of honesty. We were simply pissed off about the development in music today, it needed to be reminded of how it´s supposed to be.

January 2007.
We were in studio Beast drinking beer like we often do. Peter had been drunk the day before and had recorded an idea, which he shared with the rest of us, and to us it was obvious how we needed to develop it further. Once you start working, the inspiration sets in. We made the songs, recorded them live, most of them in just one take, and barely mixed them. The album was completed in 26 hours! We realized we had created something unique. TYRANT was born. When others talk about perfectionism, we talk about simplicity. When others talk about beautifying, we talk about uglifying. Sometimes it's right to be wrong.
